Identifying the Necessities of Regional-Based Analysis to Study Germany’s Biogas Production Development under Energy Transition

The German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) has been deemed successful in promoting biogas production. However, the state-level production development (BPD) under EEG not systematically studied and compared. This research aimed to study BPD using multivariate linear regression model with a dummy variable, spatially quantify environmental agricultural consequences geographic information system (GIS) technique identify necessities of regional-based analysis on Germany’s BPD. empirical results indicated that Saxony-Anhalt was advanced BPD, while farmers’ response from Bavaria weakest. reason behind could be differences personality traits risk cognitions toward investment. spatial had more severe problems caused by expansion than Bavaria. Therefore, promote states such as Bavaria, an increase nationwide unified subsidy might lead overreaction strong states, e.g., Saxony-Anhalt, leading serious problems. In end, there is need for studying Germany future avoid ambiguity large-scale studies.
